Farewell to Summer

Before the summer comes to a close, I wanted to share two beach inspired designs with you. I was recently asked to recreate my "Summer Sand" ring bearer pillow for a client's wedding. I was extra thrilled when she asked me to design a coordinating flower girl basket as well.

The ring pillow begins with a backdrop of silky smooth satin. With its soft champagne color, the gentle sheen of the satin, reminds me of ocean water glistening on the sand. An extra-wide, light ocean blue satin sash stretches across the pillow bringing a touch of color to the design. And the pièce de résistance? -- a natural sand dollar centerpiece complete with ivory streamers to secure the wedding rings into place. 

 

When considering the flower girl basket, I wanted it to relate to the ring pillow, but to still have its own character as a stand alone piece. The base of the basket is wrapped with crisp ivory satin to bring in the sand dollar color, while the handle is finished in champagne satin for contrast. Luxurious light blue satin seemed to be a no-brainer for the sash and bows. That color is just so soothing and fresh! To further distinguish the basket details, I suggested smaller sand dollars so that they could be fastened inside of the bows and spaced along the sash. So sweet!

 

I so enjoyed working on these pieces and I am pleased to announce that the "Summer Sand" ring bearer pillow and flower girl basket will be making their way into the shop very soon.
